The new industrial building of Montajes Delsaz, located in Calle Siete Picos 5, Alcobendas (Madrid), has obtained the LEED Certification (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Silver Level.
The strategy followed for the construction of this building has been based on the three basic pillars of sustainability: Economy, Environment and Social Welfare.
The project has been built under the following sustainability criteria
One of the most distinguished features of the project regarding energy efficiency and demand is the percentage of savings. The building energy simulation has reached the value of 51% of energy use and cost savings. The main reasons to obtain this percent are:
- A vegetated roof choice to decrease the building energy demand.
- High reflectance site materials to reduce heat island effect.
- Solar water heating facility implementation.
- Photovoltaic panels facilities implementation.
- The cold-heat production systems are carried out using efficient systems.
Also, other important aspects related to the sustainability of the building are the parking spaces for low emitting/ fuel efficient vehicles. The implementation of efficient water supply fixtures, such as high efficiency toilets (2-4 liters), urinals (1 lpf) and showerheads (4 lpm) led to a 48,95% potable water savings.
Concerning materials and resources, 30 products with an Environmental Product Declaration were used. The project includes products from 12 different manufacturers.
The health and comfort of the occupants has been addressed by installing a 100% outdoor air Air Handling Units and achieving an additional outdoor air supply of 30%. In addition, CO2 probes have been installed in spaces with high occupation.
Also, interior lighting is properly distributed ensuring comfortable lighting levels in the workplace. To this end, the following measures have been adopted in the different sections of the building: light points with 3 lighting levels and the implementation of dimmers.
